Too close

During the pandemic, a mother and daughter went out to buy groceries from the nearby shop. The groceries at home would last for another week and so it was necessary to buy a few things today. A short walk would take them to the shop that opened only for a limited period during the day.

On their way, the daughter saw a puppy who was running wildly, probably looking for its mother. The puppy followed them to the grocery store. While the mother was busy ordering her items, the daughter wandered off to look for the puppy. The daughter went too close to the puppy and the next thing, she hurried to be near her mother and help her with the heavy bags.

Both walked home chatting about social distancing and online teaching. On returning home, the daughter told the mother about a scratch on her foot. The wild behaviour of the puppy and the scratch on foot along with the daughter’s worried voice, made the mother concerned. Both went to the nearest doctor’s clinic who prescribed an anti rabies injection as a preventive measure.
